Senior Chris Rusin struck out 11 in his second consecutive complete-game win to lead Kentucky to a 6-2 win over Vanderbilt Saturday at Cliff Hagan Stadium. Rusin was in control of the game from the opening pitch, working both sides of the plate and displaying complete command of the strike zone. The lefty didn't allow a run until the eighth inning, giving up seven hits and walking two. Rusin improved to 2-0 in conference play and 4-1 on the season and dropped his ERA to 2.97 after five starts. He now has 46 strikeouts in 331 3 innings. The Cats made sure Rusin had plenty of run support, getting home runs from junior catcher Marcus Nidiffer and sophomore shortstop Chris Wade. Nidiffer started the UK scoring with a deep homer to left field to cap a 10-pitch at- bat. The UK catcher was leading the SEC in batting coming into the game and now holds a team-leading .441 average on the season.
